The whimsy aesthetic is a playful style that captures a sense of childlike wonder through bright colors, layered patterns, and a mix of textures that feel slightly magical. In my outdoor piece, I wanted to create something that felt like a small fairy garden by using both upcycled and new materials in a way that was creative and sustainable. I was especially interested in how the piece could interact with light, so I chose beads, glass, and other objects that would catch sunlight and create movement. I found many of my materials at Arts and Parts and Goodwill, including beads, pendants, and old bracelets that I could take apart and reuse. I focused on a blue color scheme and hand threaded multiple strands of beads, then added them to a watering can to create the effect of water flowing out. The process took patience, but it allowed me to build a piece with a strong sense of movement and texture. In the end, I really like how all the elements came together, especially the flowing bead strands and the added lace detail. This project helped me continue exploring upcycling while also improving how I think about color and composition, and I am excited to gift it to my grandma for her garden.
