For this project, I designed and built a Mid-Century Modern desk terrarium from scratch. I sourced a large glass jar from an antique store and constructed a custom wooden base using scrap wood I already had on hand. The base features signature MCM angled 4-base legs with dado joints at each corner, which I cut using a table saw and finished with a chisel and sandpaper. After assembly with wood glue and a staple gun, I sanded the piece smooth, stained it, and applied a clear coat. The result is a compact, versatile terrarium stand that fits the MCM aesthetic and can accommodate different pot sizes, a fully self-built piece made almost entirely from materials I already owned.
