Upcycle: Art Deco Lamp

Art Deco Lamp

For this upcycling project, I made an Art Deco lamp out of recycled wood scraps. I took ¾’’ thick scrap plywood sheets, cut them, and then glued together a box using miter joints. I then got scap slabs of ⅛’’ thick birch sheets from the ITLL and laser cut out shapes and designs that resembled the Art Deco style. After getting all of my parts together, I stained the main base of the lamp with a walnut wood stain and then stained the Art Deco features with a mineral oil stain. I recycled and broke down an old lamp to get the electrical components for the plug and bulb connection, and was gifted an old lampshade from my roommate. After getting all of the components together, I used hot glue to attach the Art Deco features to the base of the lamp. Overall, this project turned out great!
