The final product! A home made drum in a modern aesthetic. Utilizing geometric but smooth edges, symmetry, and a bright but natural color I’ve made something I’m very happy with and something that fits the aesthetic. At the moment the drum is not round enough for me to properly tension it, so it doesn’t sound great. But I will be working on that in the future so I can actually play this thing!
This is the initial construction of the drum with the hexagonal pieces cut and bonded together, before any post processing.
After many hours of sanding this is the final shape of the main drum. It was difficult but I was able to pretty much get it the shape I wanted. Now it’s time to stain to get that bright color and then assemble my drum!
