Upcycle Project

I am happy with the way my first project turned out. I made changes throughout and adapted as I found different materials and refined my design. I am most happy with how the wood accent turned out and I may add some more wood finish as I plan to keep the lamp around.

Aesthetic
The Edo Period aesthetic is so unique due to Japans isolation at the time meaning it came from within the country itself. The idea is restrained beauty using simple materials like wood and paper to bring people calm feelings. The idea is that less is more. This aesthetic inspired future Japanese architecture and other Japanese aesthetics. An example is Tadao Ando who I referenced in my 3 aesthetics post and am a big fan of.

Upcycle
Everything used in the project was upcycled. The basket, paintbrush holder (used for wood), and paper were from Art Parts Store Boulder. The “donor” lamp I had around and wasn’t using.
