Skills Sets and Personal Aspirations: Tori Herfert

My personal skill sets involve being very involved with detail.  I always notice the little things that come with a certain aesthetic.  For example, with houses, I always notice the tiny details on the walls or on the outside finishings.  I love to look at the way different colors go together.  I love houses and how every single person decorates their house differently.  I think that one of my skill sets that could really help other people, would be the pairing of different colors and patterns with each other.  I have a very good eye for this kind of thing and can definitely tell you whether something looks comfortable in its setting or not.

Another personal skill I have is listening to tones and harmonizing.  I am very good at being able to hear if someone is on key or not, because I have been involved with music since age 5.  So if your project has anything to do with music, I can definitely help you out.

My personal aspirations are very vague, but my main goal is to be able to be successful at a young age, so that I can start giving back. I want to be able to give back to all of the communities and different people that have helped me get to where I am today.  I also want to be apart of a company that wants to help the public, and not cheat people for their money.  I will never be able to be apart of a company that does not have an honest and giving platform.  I feel like so many companies today work only for themselves, and I will definitely try to avoid that.  I also would like to eventually be a manager, because I love being a leader and having full responsibility on projects.  I hope to work my way up to that.

Tori, that’s great that you have been involved with music for so long and have a natural skill with it. My final project will be similar to my upcycle sax project and I could definitely use the assistance

  • Tori, that’s really cool that you have an good sense of aesthetics. It seems the class focuses on building awareness for aesthetics, but its usefulness comes from being able to apply them. This is a difficult skill to teach, but it sounds like you have it down.
Although your aspirations are vague, it sounds like you’ll know what you’re looking for when you see it. To get on track for management and leadership, a project management position might be a good entry point.
