Main Project Final Report Part 2

What’s next:

  • Add inlay design: I ran out of time to be able to add a nice inlay design. And I want to make sure that I wanted rushed during that process, so later on I would like to add one.
  • Make compartment: I haven’t made the compartment to hold a picture in. I might end up doing this on a drill press but I wanted to make sure I had enough time.
  • Remake with process improvements: with the lessons learned I would like to try and make this with a more complex picture holder design.

This project turned out how I expected it to at the beginning of this design process. Though I did plan on having an inlay which I was unable to do with the time constraints. The public seemed to like it and enjoyed playing with it. I learned in this class that things always take longer than anticipated and that you should plan for that in your timeline.

Below are pictures of the three configurations of the locket:

Hi Katie, This is a very pleasing piece of work. I really like the finishing and the final looking aesthetic of the wood on the project. The size seems to be really reasonable and handy. I agree on the future iteration you have written down, especially the compartment, I feel like having a picture in there would give it a lot more value as a gift. Thanks!

This is a cool piece of jewelry. As someone who fidgets and clicks my pen around, it would be cool to have. Do you plan on doing anything with the interior with the compartment when it is done, like line it with some fabric? I have not seen the movie that this is based on, but it might be a nice addition if the picture that you put in does not fully cover the locket’s interior.
