Minimalism – Main Project Plans

Thinking of my personal aesthetic I have always sought my appearance to match my simplistic and minimalistic personality. In regards to clothing, I have always leaned towards natural tones and a style that seems minimalistic yet focuses on the smaller details. Although I disagree with his personal opinions,  One of my favorite fashion designers is Kanye West, simply due to his creative and sophisticated taste when it comes to fashion.

Kanye’s designs always seem natural yet there is always some twist that makes the design outrageous and captivating. Also, Kanye resorts to natural tones in most of his designs.

Thinking about my main project I am still debating on whether I want my project to reflect my personal aesthetic or proceed with a different one. On the one hand, I want the project to reflect my personal aesthetic and who I am. But on the other hand, I believe that it will be extremely difficult to achieve as I am considered a picky person.

I always have liked the minimalistic approach to design. For your project would you consider making clothes or shift to potentially accessories or even furniture? I’m excited to follow along with how the progress of your project with develop.

    • Hi Colin,
Thanks for the comment. I am mostly considering decorative objects rather than clothing.

    Hi Ali,
I enjoyed reading about the aesthetic you want to follow in creating your final project. I think you posed a good question about deciding whether you want to more closely follow your own personal aesthetic vs the one you described. If you follow your own, how do you plan to incorporate the other?

    • Hi Alexander,
I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I think both aesthetics are close enough to be incorporated simultaneously in some way.

  • I think it can be hard to portray personal aesthetics although when you have solid examples and influences to work off of it can be super helpful. If you were to progress with minimalist clothing for your aesthetic, would you plan on creating one piece (like a sweatshirt) or did you have something different in mind?

    • Hi Matt,
I actually was not planning or creating clothing at all, I am considering creating minimalist decorative objects for the most part.
