This cat perch was built from scrap wood sourced from Facebook Marketplace and designed around the core principles of the Bauhaus aesthetic: clean lines, geometric shapes, and bold, intentional color.
The base is a flat sheet of wood framed by longer pieces to create structure, originally planned to mount to the window with rope and suction cups. When the suction cups couldn’t hold the cat’s weight, the board was secured directly to the wall instead. A practical problem, a practical fix.
The cushion came from an old bedsheet, hand-painted with Bauhaus-inspired prints referencing geometric designs found online, then sewn and stuffed. Painting fabric turned out to be the most time-consuming part of the process. A bright blue and complementary green carry the color story throughout, matched across the rope, paint, and fabric. The materials were a mix of thrifted, sourced, and repurposed, keeping the project grounded while the design stayed sharp.
The cat approves 🙂
