This project reflects punk ideals through experimentation, imperfection, and nonconformity. Framing myself as a “fish,” a newcomer still finding my place, I drew on punk and queercore symbolism, where the salmon represents going against the current. That idea carried through both concept and process. I pushed materials and techniques without guarantees, embracing risk and failure as part of learning and growth in my fabrication skills. Collaboration also became central to the work, reflecting punk’s strong sense of community, as peers contributed to processes like metal casting, 3D printing, and research, shaping both the outcome and my place within that creative space.
