Final Project: Brutalist Concrete Lamp

This is my final project photographed at the Expo. The object reflects my Aesthetic in these 3 ways.

1: Raw, Exposed Materials
Brutalism emphasizes the honest use of materials. It often uses concrete and raw metal.
2: Structural Honesty
The way the structure is built is part of the art piece itself, not hidden behind something else. Connections and supports are visible allowing it to be easily understood.
3: Heavy and Monolithic
The concrete base and top were casted as single blocks, emphasizing its stability. The contrast between the heavy base and thin rebar or metal makes the lamp look grounded.

I am happy with the way the project turned out. The final piece reflects brutalist principles through its raw concrete texture, visible reinforcement, and clear structural logic. The heavy, monolithic base contrasts with the exposed steel and warm filament bulb, emphasizing both material honesty and simplicity. The design highlights how function and structure can directly shape aesthetic, resulting in a grounded yet minimal form.
