I signed up for this class because most ofโif not all ofโmy other classes this semester were more STEM focused classes. I found this class by chance and decided to try it so that I could have more creativity in my schedule. Iโve very happy with my decision then because Iโve gained a lot of experience with different aesthetics and presentation skills. Furthermore, I had a lot of fun while doing it.
Upcycle Project: A Witchโs Cabin Diorama
For my upcycle project, I was inspired by my childhood desire to create a diorama. The concept of building a witchcore themed diorama came while I was brainstorming ideas. I had a small empty glass spice container that I wanted to incorporate into my project and stumbled across the witchcore aesthetic while researching aesthetics. Inspiration struck, and I wanted to turn the container into a potion bottle or mini fake terrarium diorama. However, the scale felt a little small, so I decided to build off of the idea and create a diorama of a witchโs corner.
Since I already had most of the materials, it wasnโt expensive. Moreover, I also had experience working with clay. Overall, Iโm very happy with the results and details that I achieved. There are only a few minor details that I would change such as defining the cabin shapes more and changing the mirror into a standing one.

Main Project: Doodlecore Embroidered Skirt
Final Report Part 1: What Link
When I was coming up with upcycle projects, one of them was upcycling some old small t-shirts I had into pillow cases. The idea was scrapped because the designs on the t-shirts werenโt centered enough. However, I had dug my familyโs old sewing machine out of the garage and wanted to make something with it. Since I hadnโt used it for my upcycling project, I was drawn towards my main project ideas that involved sewing.
I decided on a circle skirt because I like skirts, and theyโre beginner friendly projects. Moreover, I wanted to incorporate embroidery into this project, so I designed patterns to embroider around the skirt. The intent was for them to highlight the skirt as it spun. I settled on two designs: the water and lantern inspired ones. Of them, I started with the water inspired design first and spent a month finishing it. It took longer than expected and I was busy with other classes, so I havenโt started embroidering the second skirt. However, Iโm still very happy that I finished at least one of them.
