The overall way that the dolls came out made me really happy. I am glad I was able to make so many different face plates for the two that are completely finished with outfits, and that I managed to create the other two despite there being some things that I may need to add. The process for this piece took quite a bit, considering the ups and downs I mentioned in my previous post, but it turned out to be better than what I had hoped for. I am really excited to add little eyepins to the heads and turn them into keychains. One suggestion I got, however, from the critique was that I should create some sort of felt face to add to the dolls, so that if they’re ever on a keychain and neodymium magnets fail, the doll won’t look blank. I plan to use that suggestion, and I will probably try using a needle felting technique in the future to add those small details. I always like making toys and dolls, and that is why I chose art as my major. However, with so many classes that want certain skills out of you, being able to create whatever I want without any constraints, such as a theme, was really refreshing.
