Throughout the past few weeks of working on my terrarium, I am still in the process of figuring out how I want to cut my wood. So far, I have made a 3D model of how I want to structure my model:

At first I had the idea to laser cut my wood and piece it together like a puzzle, so I mapped out how I was going to recreate this:

This was just a draft I made without the door. As I was doing this, I thought there could probably be a better way that would also be more “clean cut” then using a laser cutter.
I got long wood pieces from McGuckin’s:

I plan to measure and cut these pieces this weekend and piece everything together. I then have a sheet of glass to place behind the wood and will use the glass paint to create the terrarium!

I really love the final form of your terrarium! I think it is a simple design, yet makes perfect sense for being a decorative element as well as functional. I think it’s very interesting and good that you decided not to laser cut as this will give you the opportunity to stain the wood and not have to worry about burn marks. I look forward to seeing the final product.
This is a super cool project, I want to make one too! It’s very cool to see your thought process with the wooden pieces. I would recommend making those angled cuts with a chop-saw in a wood shop. How are you planning on attaching the glass to the wood? And where will you be getting the class? I look forward to seeing how this turns out!
