My personal aesthetic is a bit all over the place but definitely centers around a few key things—streetwear, 90s and early 2000s Y2K fashion, outdoorsy nature vibes, and a little hippie influence from growing up in Oregon. It’s hard to pin down, but I love combining the carefree, laid-back vibe of snowboarding with a more polished streetwear look. Think of that mix between Rihanna’s bold, edgy style and the rugged yet effortless nature of outdoor gear—kind of a blend of urban and nature.
Growing up in Oregon, I was surrounded by a love for nature, adventure, and creativity. It’s a place where people live in hoodies and outdoor jackets, but also value the beauty in simple, sustainable living. I was always drawn to people who had their own unique style, and social media played a big role in shaping how I view fashion now. Rihanna’s style, especially her more casual, street-inspired looks, has always been a huge influence. There’s a confidence and boldness in how she mixes high fashion with streetwear that feels effortless and real.
As for my project, I definitely want it to stay within this aesthetic—or at least feel like something I’d use. It’s important for me that whatever I make has a functional, multi-purpose aspect to it, while still aligning with my personal style. Sustainability is also a big part of my design philosophy. I want to create something that’s not only useful but also mindful of the impact it has on the environment. So, as I work on my main project, I’ll likely stay within this vibe but maybe push it a bit further to try new elements that feel like an organic extension of my aesthetic. The goal is to make something that feels authentic, personal, and practical, but still fresh and interesting.
In terms of updates, I’m thinking of incorporating more modular, adaptable elements into my design. Something that’s versatile, just like the mix of styles I love, and can fit into both outdoor and urban environments seamlessly.

Having grown up in the early 2000’s, I absolutely love this project. The 90’s in various different parts of the world were certainly different… but had elements of class and style that seemed common throughout. I personally wanted to fit my final project to a 80’s-90’s Japan aesthetic, but decided not to after failing to pinpoint the key aspects of the aesthetic I was going for. You captured these perfectly in this report, and honestly make me rethink some choices. Great job!
