For my project, I’m creating furniture from industrial-type pipe. I chose to go with this aesthetic of industrialism because a lot of courses that I’ve taken and some jobs that I have worked have put me in contact with many things from an industrial world. The vast majority of engineering exists in an industrial world to solve problems and build things from the ground up, so for an engineering class where I got to create a project, I decided that doing something industrial-like would make perfect sense. I’m also adding slight aspects of the outdoor industry to my designs as that speaks a ton to who I am and the type of recreating I do outside of my professional and school-related work. That’s where my ideas fro the aesthetic of industrialism come from! (I also love Chipotle and seeing the designs and layouts of their building greatly inspired me to create similar furniture using pipe and various materials!)

Hi Davis,
I think this is a neat aesthetic, especially considering how a lot of the United States history is founded on industrialism. Where do you think this popularity stems from? Why does it seem like we’re stepping away from the hand-made aesthetics?
This is a neat aesthetic and thats a really cool picture that I think ties very nicely into your lamp. I think this particular aesthetic is becoming more popularized in recent years.
