Main Project Inspirations

Coming up with an idea for the main project presented quite a challenge for my team. Due to the fact that there were so many options and possibilities out there, it was hard to narrow it down to something that was realistic yet interesting. A couple of preliminary ideas that we came up with was to make some sort of fixture that allows water to flow in a consistent and artistic manner. The image below shows some of the ideas we drew inspiration from.

The image above shows a water fixture design that we looked at for inspiration. This one deals heavily with metal and creates a metallic type of aesthetic. [1]
The image above shows another water fixture design we looked at with a Japanese water fountain aesthetic. [2]

However, the problem with this was that we didn’t really know what kind of aesthetic we could apply to it. We could go the route of using bamboo and creating a Japanese style water fountain or we could use metal and create a metallic type of aesthetic as well. Due to the fact that we are still in the early phases of the design, there are still a lot of things to consider such as water source, access to materials, as well as how we plan on executing this design so that it can be portable and easily presented.

I love this idea of flowing water. I like both aesthetics a lot, though I think sourcing bamboo would be interesting and I’d be really interested in seeing what you find. Although, with either aesthetic you choose it will turn out well and satisfying to watch.

  • I really like the direction in which you’re thinking. I love this aesthetic as it is very calming to look at and feels very natural, especially if you keep the bamboo design in it. I look forward to seeing what you cement as your final project idea
