Blog Post 6: Main Project Plans and Inspiration

For my project, my aesthetic inspiration is colorful maximalism. This aesthetic is a huge part of my everyday life in both the clothes I wear and how I have decorated my personal space. Something I enjoy incorporating into my daily outfits are decorative and colorful sunglasses. For  my project, I plan create a pair of sunglasses, made out of reused craft materials. While functionality is still a goal, my main focus is on the color choices and unique fit to the face.

The images below are my inspiration for the glasses concept I will be applying my aesthetic to. These sunglasses are made out of plants that a friend sent to me while at a flower show in New Jersey.

Great job on choosing such a vibrant and unique aesthetic for your project! Your inspiration for the colorful maximalism aesthetic is evident in your choice of creating a pair of sunglasses that are not only functional but also visually appealing. It’s impressive that you’re planning to use reused craft materials for your project, which is a great example of upcycling and sustainable fashion.

  • I love the sunglasses you’ve chosen as inspiration! They each have such a vibrant personality and unique aesthetic. I’m wondering what materials you plan to use to craft your sunglasses? It seems like their persona is highly defined by the elements they are crafted from.
