Post 10: Project Progress report

As of the time that this post was due, I had completed the construction of the structure of my couch/bed. I had not yet installed it in my Van, nor upholstered or adding in the cushions. Some improvement consideration I have for the build: coat the wood with a polyurethane finish, use a router for soften out those sharp, ninety degree edges, adding holes for ventilation from the mattress under that sleeping surface, and add in attachment points for me to secure the cushions  that they do not slide around while sleeping or in transit. I hope to make all of these improvements eventually, although they may have to come after this initial assignment is due.

Hello! I also think that ventilation holes would be a great detail to add for your own personal comfort.

    Hi Jon,
I think sanding down those edges and creating attachment points for the cushions would definitely transform your design! I’m excited to see how it looks when you’re done!
