Progress Post, Plywood Chair Design

My progress report for my plywood chair is as follows:

Material Sourcing:

The first step in the process was to source the necessary materials for the chair. I carefully selected the materials that would be both durable and aesthetically pleasing. After careful consideration, I decided on a high-quality plywood that met your requirements for both strength and appearance.

CAD Design:

Once the materials were sourced, I moved on to the detailed design phase of the project. Using CAD software, I created a detailed model of the chair. I made sure that the design was ergonomic and functional, while also incorporating the aesthetic elements I wanted.

Center of Mass Determination:

To ensure that the chair would be stable and comfortable, I determined the center of mass. This involved carefully calculating the weight distribution of the chair and adjusting the design accordingly.

Proportion Testing:

After the center of mass was determined, I tested the proportions of the chair. I made sure that the height, width, and depth of the chair were in proportion to one another, and that the overall size of the chair would be comfortable for the intended users including myself.

Purchasing and Preparing Materials:

Once the design was finalized, I purchased the plywood, wood glue, and metal hardware necessary to build the chair. I then prepared the materials by cutting them to size and ensuring that they were free of any defects or imperfections.

CNC Cutting:

To ensure precision and accuracy in the cutting process, I sent the wood to be CNC’d. The plan is to have 8 profiles of the chair cut from each 3/4 inch sheet of plywood, and there are three sheets in total.

Assembling the Chair:

Once the wood has been cut, I will begin assembling the chair. I will use wood glue and metal hardware to ensure that the chair is both sturdy and durable. I will also take great care to ensure that the chair is aesthetically pleasing.
